Ranveer Singh tap dances to subdue opponent in new Rupa Frontline spot
Produced by Sideways Consulting, the ad is a humorous version of a serious game of chess.
Chess is a game of focus and willpower, until actor Ranveer Singh is your opponent. In a new commercial for Rupa Frontline, the leading brand of men’s loungewear, he shocks his opponent by tap dancing on the table.
Crafted by Sideways Consulting, Singh, about to face impending defeat, decides to tap dance across the table, with a mix of classic dance moves, so as to checkmate his opponent before the latter realizes what he is doing. Singh is doing.
And, while tap-dancing, Singh is self-aware enough to display his Rupa Innerwear.
Lasting sixty seconds, the humorous take on a serious chess game advertisement, emphasizes its ethos of personal style and comfort taking precedence over “prim and proper” dress and deportment.
Rupa & Company, which owns the Rupa Frontline brand, had recently reported total revenue of Rs 1,313 crore. The brand, at present, has Singh and Siddharth Malhotra as its celebrity brand ambassadors.
Singh signed up for Rupa Frontline in 2015 and his first commercial, where he beats up a shark to impress a lady, immediately drew unnecessary attention.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) took offense to the act and said, according to a report on Indian TV’s website: “In recruiting Ranveer Singh, Rupa Frontline is desperately trying to attract young people, but there’s nothing to show how completely out of touch he is with young people, the company is actually just his depiction of animal cruelty in his advertising There’s nothing sexy about pretending to beat a animal and nothing that could disgust a girl more.
