Ludhiana District Chess Tournament December 28: The Tribune India

Ludhiana, December 21

The Ludhiana District Chess Association (LDCA), an affiliate unit of the Punjab State Chess Association, will host the District Chess Tournament and Open Blitz on December 28-29 in Janj Ghar, near from BCM Arya Model High School, Shastri Nagar.

A press release, released by the LDCA today, said the competition will be held for the U-9, 13 and 17 age groups (boys and girls) and the open category. The total amount of the prizes is 24,000 rupees and will be awarded to the top three players in each age group. The championship time control is 40 minutes with a 10 second overtime. The registration fee for participation is Rs 500.

In addition, an open blitz chess competition will be held on December 29 in which anyone of Indian descent can participate. 55,000 Rs will be awarded in cash with a time check of three minutes plus 2 seconds with a total of 10 laps. The winner of the contest will walk away with a cash prize of Rs 10,000. Entry fees are set at Rs 600 per player.

Participants are advised to bring their own chessboards and clocks. They are also asked to bring their age certificates.
