HC says PM & Prez Pics must appear in Olympic ads

There has never been a better time for sport in India, says PM

The Prime Minister said there has never been a better time for sport in India. “Whether it is the Olympics, Paralympics or the Deaf, we have achieved glory unlike the past,” the Prime Minister said, adding that India’s sports culture is growing stronger with a perfect blend of youth energy and preparation environment.

Modi also recalled the highlights of the 44th Chess Olympiad. “This Olympiad has the largest number of players, teams and female players compared to the previous one. This is the first ever Olympiad where a Torch Relay has been held. From now on, the Torch Relay the torch for all future Chess Olympiads will start from India. The Olympiad torch passed through 75 cities and 27,000 kilometers before reaching Chennai,” he said.

Earlier, the 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad started in bright colors with the cultural events. Foreign players got a taste of Tamil culture with various cultural events starting with traditional dances from eight different states. However, the show stealer was the keyboard performance of upcoming musician Lydian Nadhaswaram who gave a stellar performance.

He started with a single piece of music and continued playing blindfolded. As a special feat, he played two pieces of instruments – the Harry Potter theme music with his left hand and the Mission Impossible theme music with his right hand.
