EastEnders fans fume as professional chess player teaches Dotty chess

EastEnders fans have been left behind after viewers saw the return of Bernie Taylor’s beloved pastime in the latest episode of the BBC One soap opera.

On Monday, May 2, the brunette beauty teamed up with her BFF Dotty Cotton to have a fun day together over the bank holiday weekend.

But the funny version of the star is completely different from many as she dragged her pal to the local chess club in the heart of Watford.

And it’s fair to say fans were left with stitches when Dotty took on the almighty force of Bishop Bareknuckle of Barking in her first game of the day.

EastEnders fans fumed as Bernie returned to chess

As soon as she walked into the community room, Dotty complained, “Absolutely not, no, it’s not happening. Bernie – that’s unsolicited geekdom, okay? And I don’t consent.”

That’s when the fan favorite reassured her friend, “They’re really lovely, they’ll teach you how to play.

“You agreed [to] half a day doing something I want to do,” she explained. “Please Dotty, I haven’t played since I got pregnant.”

To which Dotty clapped: “Fine, but if you tell anyone I’m going to get a knight and smack him down-” before Bernie interrupted: “Ohh, so you know chess.”

As Dotty watched helplessly at the room full of chessboards and eager players, she caught the eye of a gambler who called himself the Bareknuckle Bishop of Barking.

He started off with, “Okay sweetie, surely you’re too cute for the chess club – do you want to play?”

Eager to get out of her invitation, she replied, “Well I don’t know anything about chess, it looks quite complicated.”

The mystery gambler reassured her, “I can teach you,” before gloating, “Ten to the power of one hundred and twenty-three possible moves – can you imagine how big that number is?

“Well, lucky for you, it’s all here [points at his temple]. I must warn you, they call me Bare-Handed Bishop of Barking, and don’t think I lose that title for a pretty face.”

That’s when the Londoner flashed a sparkle in her eye as she replied, “Well if you’re sure you can teach me.”

He eagerly replied, “No problem, baby. But once I show you the basics, I play for money.”

Little did he know that Dotty was a chess pro after her drug addict mother taught her some tips and tricks about the game in her youth.

After the girls left the community centre, Dotty treated her friend to a pint at the Queen Vic as she bragged about her winnings at the bar.
